Westingmark was a mark in-between the far southern Republic of Venta and the Northern Kingdom, called Mistforn, in the Westing Lands. Westingmark was for a time ruled by a series of magistrates for each of its six citadel-cities, hence being known as the Magistrate of Westingmark, between the moons' brights of 652 and 1098. The nation was established in 490 byEwart the Tall's Highfolk and hedgehogs as a protectorate for the smaller, virtually defenseless mice, voles, shrews and lemmings that beforehand were constantly preyed upon by foxes, wolves, Riverin weasels, rats, serpents, dragons, and predatory birds.
