The Falls of Fire or Firefalls was a cataclysmic event in which a meteor shower broke over the landmass that would eventually be dominated by the Westingmark Magistrate, and even later by the Silvirians, destroying cities and killing thousands. It was seen as an end-times catastrophe by the natives of the land, particularly by the then-prominent religion of the Ildré. The polytheocratic, stratocratic oligarchy in power crumbled within a short few moons' brights during and after the Falls, following the Foretoken at Nezérun. The Falls marked a major point in the history of the Westing Lands- in fact, the beginning of the current measurement of time itself therein,
